Commitment to Privacy

The Foundation of the Old Guard, Inc. (“FOGI”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors and the personal information you share with us.  FOGI values our donors' trust and recognizes that maintaining this trust requires the charity to be transparent and accountable to our supporters and the public at all times. This Donor Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes the information collected about our donors and FOGI’s practices for using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

Information

FOGI collects information that you, our donors, provide us when you contact us, register for events, made a contribution or navigate through our website.  The information can include personal information, including first and last names, home addresses, e-mail, and phone numbers.  It can also include giving information, including types of giving, amounts of donations and credit card information.  We do not disclose credit card account information provided by our donors, except for the proper processing of donations, registrations for events, contributions made, and the like.

We may also collect information on your equipment, browsing actions and patters, including information automatically collected through technical methods such as browser cookies, flash cookies, and web beacons.

Confidentiality

All information about any financial and non-financial transactions between you and FOGI is considered highly confidential and we employ appropriate security measures designed to protect it. While the information is kept confidential, it is shared with FOGI's board members, staff, volunteers, and professionals on a need-to-know basis and in compliance with all laws, regulations, court orders, or other governmental requests.

Use of Personal Information

Information is used by FOGI to establish a relationship and communicate with you about FOGI, including our programs and funding needs, learn about our donors, process donations, comply with laws, and plan future fundraising activities.  All requests to remain anonymous shall be honored.

FOGI will not share, sell, or exchange your personal information with any other entity for third-party fundraising or marketing purposes, except with charitable organizations that FOGI believes engage in activities consistent with the mission and beliefs of FOGI.  To opt out, you may contact us as described in the "Contact Us" section below. To the extent that a third-party service provider is used to process any donations, the provider is bound by strict confidentiality rules, and your information will only be used to the extent necessary to process the donation.

Sharing or Selling of Personal Information

FOGI will not share, sell, trade or rent a donor’s personal information to others. This applies to all donor information, whether collected offline or online, and pertains to all contents of donor files.

FOGI will not send you donor mailings on behalf of other organizations.

Communications Directly from FOGI

From time to time, FOGI will send announcements, invitations and foundation/program updates via email and/or regular mail.

Records Retention and Destruction.

FOGI complies with all Internal Revenue Service, state, and local regulations and FOGI's internal policies governing the retention, management, and destruction of donor information collected and maintained by FOGI.

At times, there may be links to other sites or servers that are not operated by FOGI. These are links that do not fall under our domain. FOGI takes no responsibility for, and exercises no control over, the organizations, views, or accuracy of the information contained on outside servers. If you visit one of these linked sites, you should review their privacy policy for FOGI is not responsible for practices of other companies.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

It may be necessary for FOGI to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will note the last update at the bottom of this Privacy Policy. No changes will be retroactively applied and changes will not alter how we handle previously collected information. For changes on this policy that may be materially less restrictive on use or disclosure of personally identifiable information, FOGI will obtain your consent before implementing the change by sending a notice to your primary email address and/or home address specified in our records. We will note any such a less restrictive change to our policy on our website.

Children Under the Age of 16

FOGI's website is not intended for children under 16 years of age. No one under age 16 may provide any personal information on the website. FOGI does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are under 16, do not use or provide any information on this website or through any of its features. If FOGI learns it has collected or received personal information from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent, FOGI will delete that information. If you believe FOGI might have any information from or about a child under 16, please contact FOGI as described in the "Contact Us" section below.

Contact us

Donors and supporters may choose to opt-out at any time, which will cease all communications from us. You may unsubscribe from our e-mail list by using the unsubscribe options we routinely list in our newsletter emails or by contacting us through our postal address: Post Office Box 1010 Ft. Myer, VA 22211. You may also unsubscribe from regular mailings by requesting that using our postal address.
